Norden in a Nutshell: 14-Day Itinerary

They say if you wait for someone to travel with you, you may end up waiting a lifetime. Solo travel always seemed like just a mere thought. That was, until I realized -if not now, then WHEN. Why spend your life dreaming away the thing you've always envisioned for yourself? Why do we always seem to find excuses for it never seeming or feeling like the right time? But on the rare occasion, sometimes the stars align and the universe calls you to your personal legend. And at that moment, I knew Norden was calling.

A few years ago, when the world went dark, I stood exasperated in the Wild Fable section of Target. Folding away tirelessly, amongst the war grounds, known as the graphic tee wall, I daydreamt about the northern lights as a makeshift sliver of motivation to get through the day. When I recollect back on 2020 Pandemic Macy and I think 2023 Solo Travel Macy would be proud to know that she never gave up on that slight glimpse of hope. My only wish is that you don't either.

Throughout my two-week excursion to Finland, Sweden, and Norway, I compiled my itinerary into a personalized Travel Guide to inspire you to chase the Green Lady, float amongst the frozen glass sheets of the Baltic, and send postcards from Santa Claus Village. This itinerary is not for the faint-hearted or for that matter, the warm-hearted because GIRLLLLL is it COLD. But as the Norwegians like to say—Ut pa tur aldri sur, which means, on a trip, never sour.

I can, however, assure you that you will be forever changed by the freedom, empowerment, and friendships of all that solo travel has to offer. Never let fear and outside voices stop you from living out your dreams. And if you ever seem to lose sight, just remember…

The auroras wait for you.

xx Macy
