Falling in Love at Niagara Falls

Truth be told, I never exactly dreamt up my dream wedding or envisioned being anyone’s wife. You’ll find that the theme of this trip is irony. Because for someone who landed the “dream job” as a Wedding Assistant, sure did have a lot to say about marriage. So how ironic that the girl repulsed by the title “fiance” or “wife”, would end up coordinating thousands of weddings for couples planning their Happily Ever Afters. And spoiler alert, end up ENGAGED herself. Trust me, I’m just as shocked if not more than the rest of you.

If you’re anything like me, you’re deserving of love and being let in on a little secret. It turns out, that the fear of marriage becomes a lot less fearful when you’re with the right person. Suddenly the thought of being someone’s wife no longer comes with the relentless anxiety, overweight baggage, and the sensation of drowning in resentment. When you fall in love with the right person at the right time, the universe rewards you with bountiful and unquestionable love. For me, that feeling began the moment I laid eyes on Gabriel, July 16th, 2022.

Flash forward to May 31, 2024, some may call it fate that I would be ringing in 27 with waterfalls, rainbows, and also ironically enough, an engagement ring—which, admittedly, were on the 2024 bingo card…and much like the rush of Bridal Veil Falls (to add a bit more irony), the proposal was pure, rapid joy :’)

We spent this quick weekend trip celebrating our story of how we spend the last 2 years falling in love—overcoming the occasional challenges like getting trapped in the bathroom of our airbnb, gazing into each other eyes over glasses of wine, and experiencing the exhilaration of once-in-a-lifetime adventures.
